Walter was born August 12th, 1940 to Emma and Roy Francis in Townsend, Montana. He grew up in Helena, Montana. After attending school, he worked for Wells Fargo and also joined the National Guard. He married Virginia Parent in 1968. They had a daughter, Toni Lynn, then later divorced. He later married Donna Haven, gaining a step-son Lorne.
Tom lived life to the fullest. A Montana man through and through. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, horses, and snowmobiling with his family and friends. Tom also loved working on cars and participating in local demolition derbies. After retiring from the National Guard in 1994, he worked for Security Armed, and A&U Security which he retired from in 2015. He was a family man and always shared his adventures with his family and friends. He loved going to coffee with Jerry in the A.M. Which he’ll be deeply missed.
Walter is survived by; his brother Ralph Francis; wife Donna Francis; daughter Toni Lynn; step-son Lorne; grandkids Troyal Doramdy (Ty), Nikita (Dylan), step-grandkids Collen Sandau, Thomas Sandau, Amanda Lynn Sandau and five great-grandkids.
Walter is preceded in death by; his mom, dad, sisters, brothers, along with several aunts and uncles.

Cremation has been entrusted to Simple Cremation Montana. There will be a funeral on April 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery pavilion located at 3550 Hero’s Drive, Fort Harrison, Helena, 59636. Which will be followed by a reception at The Days Inn at 3:30 p.m.
