Tobin "Toby" James David Beck

Tobin “Toby” James David Beck, age 41, passed away on October 27th in Butte, MT at St. James Hospital from a sudden acute illness.  He was a dear friend who left us too soon, and he will be missed. 

Toby was born in Tacoma, WA on November 10, 1981 to Tim and Cathy Beck. In 1991, he moved with his mother and sister to Helena where he would soon meet his forever Dad, Dan Jenkins.

A Montanan through and through, Toby attended middle school in Montana City, attended Helena High graduating in 2000, and played football for Western in Dillon.   He is best known for his love of football and a personality overflowing with generosity, loyalty, kindness, and energy!  His laughter, bear hugs, and comradery will be greatly missed by the countless lives he touched.  One of his favorite lines was, “Nothing But Love,” and he lived life with that mantra.  His NFL size and strength intimidated strangers, but under that imposing figure was a fun-loving, kind, somewhat clumsy, teddy bear.  To have known Toby is to know what it's like to laugh so hard your side would hurt, to know he would have your back no matter what, and to know how to fix holes in drywall. 

In life he was a dreamer and never afraid to chase after them.  Some he found, and along with it tremendous success.  Others he didn't, but he would pick-up and try for the next.  His life was a kaleidoscope of experiences that took him on journeys that most folks wouldn’t even come close to executing in a lifetime.  He was so full of life that those lucky enough to call him a friend will never forget his memory as it would be impossible to do so. 

Toby is survived by his Mother, Cathy Jenkins; Dad, Daniel Jenkins; and Sister, Meghan Beck; Nieces, Ayla and Rozlyn; Nephew’s, Dakota and Jaxon; Grandparents, Dan and Florence Jenkins; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death and there to embrace him on the other side were grandparents Jim and Arlene Murry. RIP Big Guy.  

A celebration of life will be held at the Speakeasy 41, 685 Barney St A, Helena, MT 59602, on Sunday, November 5, 2023 starting at 2pm. Please come help remember Toby and share your stories amongst family and friends.
