Thomas Michael McGovern Sr, a beloved son, husband, father, and friend, passed away on April 14, 2024, at 53. Born on January 28, 1971, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John McGovern Sr. and Mary Ann McGovern, Thomas's journey was one of love, family, and passion.
Thomas's life took him to North Cape May, where he thrived within the embrace of his family. He attended Lower Cape May Regional High School, where he not only received an education but also found the love of his life, Amy Lyn Youngblood. Their bond blossomed, leading to a beautiful family with three children: Rachael E. Boyle, Amanda L. Carleton, and Thomas M. McGovern Jr.
Life brought changes, and Thomas embraced them with open arms. His love extended to another child, Britney McGovern, and despite life's twists and turns, he cherished her deeply. Thomas's journey led him to marriage with Shannon McGovern; although no children came from this union, their love was evident. Thomas moved to Helena, Montana, to be close to his older children. He loved to take his grandchildren fishing.
A man of many passions, Thomas found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Fishing, working on cars, and the satisfaction of building things with his hands brought him immense happiness.
In his passing, Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his two older brothers, John McGovern Jr. and Joseph McGovern, as well as his cherished daughters, Rachael, Amanda, and Britney and His only son Thomas JR. His memory will be carried on by his nieces and nephews: Crystal, Kymber, Joseph Jr., Jacqueline, John III, Leighann, Elena, and Adam.
Thomas's greatest joy was in his twelve grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his life. Hailey, Addilyn, Landon, Ayden, Leyla, Raidon, Hunter, Jackson, Novalynn, Reed, Quinn, Michael, Caitlyn, Reilly and Jordan will forever hold him in their hearts.
Even in his passing, Thomas's love and care extend to his beloved dog, Clarence, who will find comfort in the care of his devoted daughter, Amanda Carleton.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary McGovern, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.
His final wishes and services will be honored at a later date in North Cape May, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Amanda Carleton at 455 Griffin Road, Helena, Montana 59602, to celebrate Thomas's memory and the love he shared with those around him.

Dad was one to make everyone laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends. Even though Dad was a grumpy old man, everyone loved him.
We love and will miss you, Thomas.
