Musician and nature-lover, Robin Lee Larson, of Helena, died unexpectedly post-surgery on October 15, 2023, with her loving family at her side.
Robin was born in June of 1957, in Choteau, MT, to Lowry and Eunice (Campbell) Larson. Happy andfree, she spent her childhood on her parents’ farm and ranch operation southeast of Bynum.
At an early age, Robin began “tickling the ivories” of the family piano. She soon made her piano endeavors official with years to follow of piano lessons, diligent practice and performance.
Robin attended Bynum Grade School where she learned to play clarinet and to sing in four-part harmony under the tutelage of principal/music master Ira Perkins.
During her grade school years, Robin benefitted from the camaraderie and educational projects offered by a local 4-H club.
After graduating from Choteau High School, where she had excelled in musical activities, Robin attended the University of Montana and majored in music with an emphasis on piano performance. She would later teach piano in Helena.
High school sweethearts, Robin and Dean Brumberger were married in 1977 in Choteau. The following year, they moved to Helena where they welcomed their daughter, Mary Robin, in 1983. The couple later divorced.
Robin’s work experience in Helena included many years with non-profits. At her time of passing, she was office manager for the Helena office of the Montana Audubon Society, where her fellow staff had loved her and were to painfully miss the light, energy and fun she had brought to the workplace.
With her quick wit and dry humor, Robin loved to laugh and create mirth among those around her. Visits to the ranch and time with family and friends always brought her joy. During her free time, she liked to swim, play piano and quietly observe nature. She particularly loved flowers, birds and the Montana sky.
Robin’s dear brother, Marvin, preceded her in death.
Surviving her are her daughter Mary (Dustin) Burdick and grandson Declan Burdick of Helena; sister Kaylene Larson of Bynum; niece Brittanny Black of Helena; nephew and grand-nephew Damon and Evan Black of Missoula; niece Lara Boucher of Felton, CA. Robin also left behind her precious cat, Marble.
We wish you the finest of flights, our beloved Robin, and remind you to teach the angels how to dance the Griddy….
The family plans to hold a private celebration of Robin’s life in the spring.
