Lynne Nelson Obituary

Lynne Marie (Wallace) Nelson, 70, of Helena Montana passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 31st, with her loving husband at her side.

Born August 27th, 1953, in Billings MT; she was the daughter of Thomas and Lenore Wallace. Lynne grew up in Billings and attended Billings West High School before venturing out in her Volkswagen van with her dogs to Albuquerque New Mexico and several other places along the way before eventually settling down in Helena, MT.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Roger Nelson, her children; Tara and Jammie Wallace, Cassie and son-in-law Scott McCoy, son Travis and daughter-in-law Lara Nelson and stepdaughters Cozanna and Heather Nelson and her grandchildren; Dezarae, Briar, Julian, Kaytlyn, Drakken, Larkynn, Dawson, Dylan, Caleb, Zoie, Ryder, Lincoln, Nicole, and Brooke. She was always there for her children and grandchildren, and at times when life became chaotic, she was the stern voice of reason.

Throughout her adult life Lynne was known for her restaurant, The Early Bird Café, which she put most of her time and effort into. The “Bird” and its customers were Lynne’s life, her regulars were very special to her, many of which had been with her from the beginning. She cherished their loyalty and friendship, to her they were a part of her family.

Lynne loved football and rarely missed a game of her beloved Chicago Bears. Lynne had a soft spot for animals, providing a home for many and never turning away a stray. Her passion for the holidays was apparent, going all out when decorating in friendly competition with her daughters Tara and Jammie, but never being outdone.

A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held at The Early Bird Café on April 22nd , 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. The celebration will be a Potluck style so bring your favorite dish. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations to help the family be made then. We appreciate your support and kindness during this difficult time.

Our hearts are heavy with sorrow, but we find warmth in the memories that we shared with Lynne. Her kindness, love, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest peacefully knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those whom she touched.  Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family.
