Lorraine Eleanor Eby

In the early morning of Easter April 17, 2022, Lorraine Eby of East Helena, MT passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. She was 89 years old.

Lorraine was born on January 3, 1933 in Bismarck, ND to George and Christine Ludwick. Along with her brothers Frank and Jim, the family moved to Butte, MT. They later moved to Brown’s Gulch near Virginia City where Lorraine attended school.

Her father had been seriously injured working in the Butte mines and he died in 1944. Lorraine’s mother married Sam Wonderly in 1945. Sandy Wonderly was later born to Sam and Christine.

Lorraine married Gene Eby on September 29, 1950 and they were married until Gene’s death two months before their 50th anniversary.

Gene and Lorraine moved to Helena where they raised their family. Lorraine worked at various jobs including Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she worked for 28 years until her retirement. Lorraine is survived by her children Greg Eby (Julie), Gayle Eby, and Skip Eby (Chris); her grandchildren Chris McMahon, Casey McMahon (Tiffany), Jennie McMahon, Jake Eby (Jenna), Mike Alt, Sarah Eby (Scott), Mike Eby, and Kory Eby; and 12 great grandchildren.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her granddaughter Becky, her husband Gene, her parents, her siblings and several precious 4-legged companions.

Graveside services will be held at a later date to be announced. For anyone who wishes, memorials may be made to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
