Karen Ann (Walker) Barraugh of Helena, Montana passed away at the age of 70 on June 10, 2022 at St. Peter’s Regional Medical Center.
Karen was born September 10, 1951 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Mary and Henry Walker. Karen spent most of her childhood in Townsend, Montana. She attended Cecelia Hazelton Elementary in Townsend and graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1969.
Karen married Bill Barraugh on July 18, 1970 in Townsend, Montana and afterwards established their home in Helena, Montana. Karen was employed at Carroll College from November 02, 1990 until her retirement on September 30, 2013. Karen worked in the Office of Admissions as an administrative assistant. As the first point of contact for incoming students, Karen touched the lives of thousands of future Carroll College Saints. Karen enjoyed storytelling, playing games of all types, outdoor activities such as fishing and boating, cooking family favorites, and cheering her grandsons on as they excelled in sports. Karen loved decorating her home for all holidays and never missed dressing in costume for her favorite holiday, Halloween. She created fond memories with her grandsons when dying Easter eggs which became an annual tradition. Karen was known as the family historian and always remembered and acknowledged every family member’s birthday and anniversary. Karen was a life-long Catholic and a parishioner of Saint Mary Catholic Community where she served faithfully on the funeral luncheon committee. Her macaroni salad was enjoyed by many throughout the years.
Karen is survived by her spouse Bill, daughter Kristen (Brad) Cozzie, daughter Brenda (Vince) Kornick, grandsons Walker and Tiegan Cozzie and grandson Nathan Kornick. Surviving family members also include sister Linda (Wayne) Krahe, sister Diana/Dee-Dee (Bill) Beaulieu, brother Kevin (Charlene) Walker and brother Bill (Roxi) Walker, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her father Henry Walker and mother Mary Walker.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Peters Regional Medical Center for the care they gave Karen during the last days of her life.
A memorial mass will be held in honor of Karen on Friday, June 24, beginning at 11 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Helena.
