Julie Belle Capps passed away at St. Peter’s Health on August 13, 2023 after a long battle with liver disease. Julie was 66 years young.
She was born May 15, 1957, at St. John’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. Raised by Bill and Joan George, Julie was one on too many children to note here.
She loved her Native heritage and it was reflected throughout her home. Julie was a member of the Little Shell. She was also proud to be in the first graduating class of Capital High School. Not long after graduating Julie had her son Joshua Pocha.
A few years later Julie married David Holmgren and they were blessed with Mariah Rose. Marian passed away from SIDS not long after she was brought into this world. Heaven gained an angel that day.
Julie has many jobs throughout her life, helping survey MacDonald Pass pregnant with me was a good one. I’m sure mom would say her favorite was working at the State Nursery. She had a green thumb and loved anything to do with plants and flowers.
Mom loved to sing and was upset when they did the endoscopies through her throat, she said it ruined her singing voice and she didn’t have another one.
Mom married Ron Capps in 1998 and together they built her dream home; a little cabin on a few acres was just right for her. Sadly, Ron passed in 2001.
Julie spent most of her life in the Canyon Ferry, Spokane Bench, Glass Slipper area. She loved her community and had many long-lasting friendships. She rarely missed Friday lunch with the ladies till her last month.
I’d like to give a huge thank you to Joan George for taking care of mom the last few months. I know that it was overwhelming. Thank you to Marta Bromlie as well for being there.
