George Wirt Obituary

George G. Wirt of Helena, Montana passed away on April 4, 2023, surrounded by those who loved and adored him.

George was the first born to Joe and Joyce Wirt, on October 28, 1939, in Superior, Montana. He grew up surrounded by a large extended family, graduated from Superior High School in 1957, and moved onward to serve in the US Navy from June of 1957 to October of 1960. George later graduated from Helena Vo-Tech with a certificate in Industrial Electronics, propelling him forward to fulfill his passion for computers and technology, and into a career that always involved electronics. He loved the outdoors from an early age and as an adult he was an avid outdoorsman who took great pleasure in being a private pilot, photography, fishing, camping, and prospecting.

On June 12, 1965, George married Patricia (Pat) Aune, and from their marriage they had two wonderful daughters: Marla and Amanda. Family and friends have always been a very important part of George’s life and he took great pride in those he grew to know and love.

George is survived by his wife Pat, daughters Amanda Wirt and Marla Ducello, son-in-law Mike Ducello, special nephew Joseph Wright and his wife Imbuhira, as well as his two grandchildren Dana and Kevin Ducello, Kevin’s wife Sicily, his siblings Rita Colburn, Greg Wirt, and Viviane Travena, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Joyce Wirt, sister Marguerite Wirt, infant grandson Jonah Ducello and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

George was kind-hearted and generous, trusting to all, and made dear friends everywhere he went. He had an endless love for the outdoors, ATVs, and all things electronic; he was always interested in learning new things and was open to just about any adventure. His curious nature, quick wit, and joyful sense of humor color many of our memories.

George, treasured husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend (among all else) will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to join him on his journey.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate the life of George Wirt. Join us for a light luncheon at 12:30pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Superior Assembly of God (502 2nd Ave, Superior, MT 59872).
