Deborah Jane Dils of Boulder, Montana, died August 7, 2023. She was 75 years old. Deb was born July 24, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio to parents, Jim and Margaret Dils. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Art. Deborahh moved to Montana in 1977 and worked for the State of Montana, beginning with the Department of Revenue and ending with Fish, Wildlife and Parks, where she became known as Tzarina of Public Lands. She was responsible for many wonderful pieces of land for public use.
Deb was a Helena resident until she retired and bought her beloved horse farm in Proctor, Montana, overlooking Flathead Lake.
She is survived by her sister Jennifer Deen, niece Ronda Mabrey, nephew Brenden Mabrey of San Diego, California and other family members. Deb also has extended family members in Australia.
Deb’s devoted partner of 42 years is Albert Magnan of Boulder, Montana who was constantly beside her for her years battling cancer. Al and Deb spent many wonderful years camping, fishing, hiking, and riding horses together throughout Montana.
No funeral services are planned per Deb’s wishes. Deb wanted her cremated ashes scattered on Wild Horse Island in Flathead Lake, Montana.
Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family.
