Barbara Josephine Nayes Curry passed away at home at the age of 89 on March 10, 2023 in Helena, Montana.
Barbara was born June 7, 1933 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Chet and Sug Nayes. She grew up outside of Wyola, MT on the Crow Indian Reservation. She graduated in 1951 from Lodge Grass High School.
After graduating, Barbara moved to Billings, where she worked for the District Attorney’s Office. On October 9, 1954, she married Don Curry. They had two children, Darwin and Kim. In 1962, they moved to White Sulfur Springs where Don ran the Ford dealership. They moved to Great Falls in 1969 and then to Helena in 1971. In 1972 they purchased Creek Building Maintenance, where they started their own business called Capital Building Maintenance, that Kim and Darwin still run today.
One of Barbara’s favorite activities was playing the machines around town at various casinos and wearing her turquoise jewelry. She also had a strong love of animals and always had pets in her life.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Chet and Sug Nayes, husband Don Curry, and brother Alex Nayes. She is survived by her children, Darwin (Debbie) Curry, and Kim Curry, both of Helena, MT; three grandchildren, Chester (Misty) Brown of Amarillo, TX, Marianna (Eddie) Behrends of Endee, NM, and Crystals Curry (Brad Ouldhouse) of Helena, MT; four great grandchildren; her dog Zorro and numerous grand dogs and cats; and her sister Mary Ann Ferguson of Helena, MT.
Per her wished, no services will be held.
