William (Willie) R. Simmons, 62, of Helena passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 8th, 2021. He was born April 2nd, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona to Mamie R. Erickson and Robert M. Simmons. Six years later, he became a big brother to his sister, Laureen J. Simmons.Willie served in the U.S. Navy from 1978-1981, stationed out of San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged for medical reasons. During this time, he met his first wife, JoAnn Simmons and together they had a daughter, Melissa (Simmons) Pimms. They divorced and Willie moved to Montana to be closer to his mother and there he met his second wife, Patty (Langley) Simmons. Patty had a son from a previous relationship, Mike Langley, who Willie helped raise as if he was his own. Together, Wille and Patty had two more children, a daughter, Apryl (Simmons) Saksa and a son, Tony Simmons. After being discharged from the Navy, Willie worked in retail sales, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Willie was an avid Rock-N-Roll fan and loved to rock out at any chance he got, especially when he was outside working in his yard. He also enjoyed being with his two furry four legged kids, Charlie and Buster. He was a die hard LA Rams fan since childhood, a passion that he passed on to his grandson. But being a Papa to his two grandchildren, Ryland and Adalyn, was the highlight of his life. Willie is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Patty Simmons; Children Melissa Pimms (George), Spokane; Mike Langley, Helena; Apryl Saksa (Joshua), Helena; Tony Simmons, Billings; Grandchildren Ryland and Adalyn Saksa, Helena; An Uncle, Aunts and numerous cousins.Willie is preceded in death by his father Robert Simmons, his mother Mamie Erickson, and his sister Laureen Simmons.Per his wishes, Willie has been cremated and he did not want a funeral. But to celebrate his life, we will be holding a memorial service at Fort Harrison VA Cemetery in Helena, Montana on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Wille says, "Let The Good Times Roll!"
