Walter D. Brewer was born November 17, 1938 in Helena, Montana at St. John's Hospital to Florence (Traufer) and Frances Brewer and passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2025 at the age of 86.
Walter was the 8th of 14 Children. Walt grew up in the Scratch Gravel Hills area and attended schools in Helena, Twin Bridges, and Virginia City. Walt was drafted to the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland and sent to France aboard the USS Butner Troopship. Walt's employment consisted of delivering the newspaper, working on the pump station at Canyon Ferry Dam, Construction, Mining, and Heavy Truck and Machinery Operation.
Walt was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired on his 65th Birthday. He was an avid gold panner and had many stories of days past. Walt loved "putting 5 bucks in the machine" watching Basketball, the BLT's on a Friday at the Motherlode and his low-rider dog Moses.
Walt is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother's Arthur, Frank, Dean, Lloyd, James, Jack, and his sister's Mildred, Valeria, and Lucille, Carol, and Henrietta.
Walt is survived by his brother Charles Brewer Sr. and his sister Linda Stokke both of Helena, along with over 100 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews and 3 Step-Children Linda, Danny, and Patrick. Cremation has taken place. Family will plan a gathering at a later date.
