Obituary

Virginia Lucy Buckingham Fowlie passed away on February 7 at the age of ninety-five. She was born in Butte, Montana on January 10, 1930, to Walter and Marie Joyce Buckingham.

Two brothers, Wallace, and Wayne later joined Virginia. She grew up in the White Sulphur Springs area on the family ranch starting school at 5 attending the local elementary.  There was no lunch program at the time, so Rose Gordon fed Virginia and her brothers daily, charging .25 for them to eat "day old food".  Virginia graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in May of 1947.  During her school years she participated in Band, Basketball and Cheerleading.  On October 7, 1947 Virginia married James Robert (Bob) Fowlie.  Three daughters graced the marriage, Karyn, Kay, and Bobbi Jo.

Throughout the years, Virginia held various jobs. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. Virginia also ran the mail route to Ringling for 49 years. This position often included taking sick children who had made it to school out back with her to their homes.  Virginia baked the best pies and was renowned for taking the pies to the rummage sale. Most times, she had the pie taken out of her hand and sold before it was even set down. She made her last rummage sale pie at the age of ninety-two. Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hobby Club, Cowbelles,  and various Bridge Clubs.

In later years, Virginia enjoyed the trips she and Bob took to Bob's Airforce reunions.

Virginia was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 61 years, her parents Walter and Marie, daughter Karyn, her brother Wallace, sister-in-law Jean, two nephews and one niece. She is survived by daughters Kay (Guy) Small, and Bobbi Jo Fowlie, brother Wayne (Tary) Buckingham, sister in law Kay Buckingham, grandchildren JD (Michele) Walker, Charlotte (Bill) Kalstrom, Wendy (Klint) Siemsen and Wayne (GingerMay) Small, five great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, ten great-great grandchildren, and three nieces.
