Obituary

Vincent George Barrett died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on the morning of June 9, 2025. He was 73 years old.

Vince was born on July 9 ,1951 in Oceanside, New York. As a young person he enjoyed playing sports with his brother, Mike and  attained a scholarship to Rutgers University, where he attended from 1969-1973. He received his Bachelor's and earned his Masters from MSU in 1974.

Vince married his longtime soul mate, Lynn on October 4, 1969. They moved to Helena Montana in 1974 to teach Physical Education. Today they have 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Vince found untold joy in rough housing and playing sports with his family.

Many of his students remember a spirited and inventive teacher who truly loved his job. He taught in most of the elementary schools and finally retired in 2009. In the summer months he became a wildland fire fighter, eventually becoming the first helitack foreman for the state of Montana. He was also an accomplished and respected EMT.

Despite his many accomplishments his main focus was serving his God,  Jehovah and lovingly raising his family. Vince was Baptized in 1978 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He devoted countless hours shepherding the congregation and zealously preaching the good news of the Kingdom. Vince and Lynn even were able to serve a small congregation in the Marshal Islands from 2009 to 2016.

Vince is survived by his wife, Lynn of over 55 years, children Jessica Stewart, Decker Barrett, Chad Barrett, Jeremy Barrett, and Kimberly Mergenthaler. 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Sisters Becky Csernica of Westminster, Colorado and Betty Greenberg of Redmond, Washington.  Vince is preceded in death by his brother, Michael and parents.

While his family and friends will dearly miss him, they are encouraged by the resurrection hope found in the Bible at Acts 24:15. They are confident in God's Biblical promise of living with Vince forever in a paradise earth.  There will be no service at this time.
