Obituary

Thomas Brooks Geesling, of Helena MT, passed away in his home on February 2nd, 2025. He was 52 years old.

Tom was born in Helena, MT to Darla and Ronald Geesling on September 18th, 1972. Growing up with a father in the military, Tom and his family moved around the US and welcomed his sister, Stephanie in 1974 before finally settling back home in Clancy, MT in his teenage years. During this season in Tom's life, he will lovingly be remembered as brightly spirited and a talented artist who had a fondness for Mighty Mouse and Chester Cheetah.

In the summer of 1991, after graduating from Jefferson High School, Tom and his hometown sweetheart, Kari Peterson moved to Seattle, WA. Tom and Kari worked from the ground up to make a life for themselves on the West Coast and built lifelong friendships during their time in the north Seattle area. On February 10th, 1995 Tom and Kari were married and two years later they welcomed their first child, Brian Keith Geesling on January 28th, 1997. Shortly after having their first son, they were surprised to learn they were pregnant with their second child and welcomed their first daughter, Marissa Brooks Geesling a mere 11 months later on January 6th, 1998. With two young children under the age of two, Tom and Kari moved to Helena, MT to be close with family following an injury that left Tom physically disabled.

Following this period of healing for his family, Tom and Kari welcomed their third child, Sara Louise Geesling on December 28th, 2001. Tom made his living through various means of employment but had a special ability to be a caretaker in group homes. Tom's disability had given him a great well of patience and understanding, and he will be remembered for his ability to connect with others and his willingness to help those in need. Along with being a generous caretaker, Tom will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his natural artistic talents, his sense of humor, and the immense amount of love he felt for his family.

Tom is survived by Kari Geesling, who he was married to from 1995-2021; his three children: Brian Geesling of Oahu, HI, Marissa Geesling of Seattle, WA, and Sara Geesling of Helena, MT; his grandchild, Kassius Geesling; his mother, Darla Carlson and her husband, Dave Carlson of Helena MT; his sister, Stephanie Kindt, and husband, Paul Kindt of East Helena, MT; and his father Ronald Geesling and his wife, Soc Geesling of Helena MT.
