Stuart P Ellison, age 100 years and 8 months, died on April 3 in Helena, MT  of old age and medical complications.  Stuart was born on July 20, 1922 in Big Timber, MT to Fred and Ida Ellison.  He attended grade and high school in Big Timber, where he was active in sports and was a member of the 1940 State Basketball Championship Team.

In July 1942 he joined the Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific and on the West Coast until discharge in October 1945.  He attended the University of Montana, graduating in 1949.  After graduating he taught veteran's agriculture in Big Timber and joined his father and brother in ranching.  In 1955 he went to work for the Farmers Home Administration in Jordan and later in Havre.   In 1960 he joined First Bank Sys., working in Havre, Great Falls, and Helena, where he retired in 1984.

Stuart married Donna Hunter in Lewistown in August 1950 and they were parents to three children:  Matthew, Tommy and Jane.  They were later divorced and Stuart married Carol Hull in July 1975.

After retiring, they spent summers on the family ranch near McLeod, and wintered in Helena.  He enjoyed fishing the Boulder river, which was out his back door, golfing, and taking several pack trips to the Absarokee wilderness with old school buddies.  He and Carol joined family in several trips to Europe, Hawaii, and around the United States.

Stuart is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Archie, sister Ellen, and son Tommy.  He is survived by his wife Carol, son Matthew, daughter Jane (Paul), and stepsons Mark and Randy Hull.  He is also survived by his grandchildren:  John, Nick, Isaac, and Michael Haas, and Tom S and Betsy Zeitler Ellison and four great grandchildren.

After cremation, his ashes will be interred at the convenience of his family who are scattered and must assemble at the family plot in Big Timber, date pending.  Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family.
