IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherrie Mae
Higgins
July 3, 1949 – November 19, 2025
Sherrie Mae Sewell Higgins passed away on Wednesday, November 19, at St. Peters in Helena, MT.
Sherrie attended St. Margaret's Catholic School and Cut Bank High School, graduating in 1967. She went on to attend Carroll College in Helena. While serving pizzas at The Pub, she met and fell in love with Tom Higgins. Sherrie and Tom were married on May 24, 1974. They later welcomed to their family their son Kevin.
Sherrie worked at the Federal Reserve Bank and later at MHESAC, retiring in 2011. She was a long-time member of the Moose Club and held a variety of positions in the Women of the Moose. Up to the time of her passing, she put out the weekly newsletter for the Moose.
Sherrie was a "favorite auntie" to many of her nieces and nephews. She was always there to offer her guidance and opinions….when asked. Many remember with fondness and shock her recital of "The Legend of Pisspot Pete."
Her greatest hobby was attending her two granddaughters, Quincey and Kenley's sporting events and performances in the Grandstreet Theatre. She also enjoyed camping, decorating birthday cakes and wedding cakes for family and friends and arts and crafts. She was a fan of NASCAR and all levels of football, especially the University of Montana Grizzlies. Sherrie and Tom have been Grizzly season ticket holders since 2000. They have hosted a tailgate at the "GRIZMOBILE" for every Grizzly home game for the past 26 seasons.
Sherrie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mark Sewell and Joe Sewell; brother-in-law, Dave Floyd; her father and mother-in-law, James and Dode Higgins; sister-in-law, Kathrine Higgins Young; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Higgins; son, Kevin Higgins; granddaughters, Quincey and Kenley, all of Helena; sisters, Becky Scally of Great Falls, Patty Cordes of Phoenix; and Peggy Floyd of Missoula; brothers-in-law, James Higgins of Helena, John (Jackie) Higgins of WA; sisters-in-law, Jean (Jim) Sewell of Bigfork, Marian (Wade) Fox of Bozeman, Helen Higgins of Helena; and many nieces and nephews.
No services are planned at this time. There will be a memorial held in the spring/summer at Sherrie and Tom's property by Glacier Park.
Sherrie's family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to Dr. Michael Synder, St. Pat's in Missoula, and Dr. Kittrell along with the staff at St. Peters.
