Obituary

Shannel Katherine Pocha, 44 yrs old of Helena, Montana passed away on August 15th, 2024, after a long battle with heart failure. She was a dedicated, hardworking, and diligent woman which was reflected in everything she did for her family and those close to her. Her daughter Jillian and her niece Moniqua were a big part of her world, and her soulmate Joe, kept her on her toes.

Shannel had a fantastic and witty sense of humor. She had dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She was a powerful woman who filled a room with her presence. She had a contagious smile and always stood up for what she felt was right. She was not afraid to say what needed to be said or take the necessary steps to accomplish any task she set her mind to. Shannel was thick-headed and stubborn, a trait she passed onto her daughter. My Beloved Shannel's infectious laugh and wit endeared her to me from the very beginning. Then we started a journey that ended much too soon. Through good times and bad, the bonds we established were never broken because of her love and caring. The joys of her yard, her flowers, her craft projects, and her constant companion, Frankie, got her through the toughest of times. I will always remember you and we will meet again on another plane of existence and yeah, I suppose I'll shave and use lotion…occasionally. Haha. Even though we are deeply saddened by your loss we are also gladdened by the fact that you finally found the peace that we all wish you to have. With all my love, Joe

A hole in my heart appeared the day my aunt died. She was a big part of my life growing up. She pushed me to achieve goals I set for myself, showed me how strong women are, and taught me many lessons about life. She was so excited when she found out I was having a little boy and insisted he call her "Meemaw". At first, I thought she was joking, but knowing my aunt, she was serious! So Meemaw she was, and boy did she love being one. She showed me it was okay to be independent, witty and smart. And to never change myself. There are many things I wish I could have said to my aunt, but there are not enough words. I will miss her eyes. How they sparkled in the sun and told the world how she was feeling. I will miss playing with her beautiful thick hair. I will hold the many memories we shared together. And always be thankful that I had my auntie Nellerz to help guide me. I find comfort in knowing she got to hold, love and know Elias. But I will miss her always. I love you lots Auntie. Love, Moniqua

My sister Nell meant the world to me although we had our problems; we had great love for one another. I'll miss her smile, her jokes, her witty sense of humor. Most of all I miss holding her hand. We would have long deep conversations where we would laugh, cry, and yell at each other and the world. If you knew my sister, you knew that she was fiercely opinionated, hilarious, and loved deeply, and she always gave the most thoughtful little gifts just out of the blue. Like she came into my world out of the blue and she left far too early. Au revoir, baby sister, I can't wait for the day we are together again, laughing, crying, and yelling at the world. Yours, Landa

Nell is survived by her daughter, Jillian Richards, her sisters Mona Pocha, Yolanda Pocha, her life partner Joseph Ealy, her niece, Moniqua Pocha, and grandson Elias Deschon.
