Rose Powell of Helena Montana passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025 at St. Peter's  Hospital in Helena. Rose was born to William and Ruth Powell on July 22, 1954 in Deer Lodge Montana. She grew up there and often said that she had an ideal childhood with lots of freedom to be out and about with friends and neighbors. This time instilled in her a great love for the outdoors and nature. She graduated from Powell County Highschool and went on to study at Northwest Christian College in Eugene Oregon where she made many lifelong friends. She loved Oregon and stayed for a while after graduating from NCC. She earned her associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Lane Community College and enjoyed her work with young children of preschool age. Rose returned to Montana and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Montana College in Dillon.  She worked in elementary schools in Helena where she continued to make many friends. Her love of children's literature and reading led her back to Western Montana college where she earned her Master's Degree in Library Science. She served for many years in Helena and East Helena Schools as a school librarian. Rose was smart, kind, generous and wonderfully loyal.  She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Billy.  She is survived by her Aunt Linda and several cousins and their children, all of  whom she held very close to her heart.
