Obituary

Bob passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the age of 75 at his home in Helena. He was born March 3, 1950 in Helena to William (Bill) Francis Barrett and Dorothy Jean Angle Barrett. He attended schools in Nye and Helena, graduating from Helena High in 1968.

He was a foreman for the D and L and Safety Manager at ASARCO, and also spent time logging and mining through the years. He began racing horses with his dad in the early 70’s and over the years owned and trained many thoroughbred and quarter horse stakes winners and track record holders in Montana. Later in life he got into racing again and had two great horses at Golden Gate, enjoying his trips to San Francisco to watch them run.

His family will remember his many hunting, fishing and horse racing stories. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved driving remote mountain trails and fishing Montana’s many rivers and lakes. One of Bob’s greatest passions was hunting--especially for elk with his brother Billy and whitetail deer with his family. He thoroughly enjoyed taking his grandsons on hunting trips, fishing in high mountain creeks, driving them to Fortine for turkeys and long road trips to get fireworks for the 4th of July.

He is survived by his first wife Lindy, their daughter Amy (Mark) Lambrecht and their sons Grant and Lee, his son Isaac (Addy) and their daughters Ava and Anna. He’s also survived by his second former wife, Lisa.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Jean, his brothers Mike, Billy and Sam and sister Gloria.

A private celebration will be held in the spring. Friends and family can donate to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society or plant a tree in his memory.
