Richard Nisbet's life was one that overflowed with adventure, passion, and love. From his service in the Army at Ft. Riley to his remarkable 40 years as the director of public works in Helena, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the people and the city he cherished. Alongside his beloved wife of 68 years, Carol Nisbet, he crafted a lifetime of treasured memories and experiences.
An adoring grandfather to his seven grandchildren. Dick shared his zest for life with his grandchildren, taking them on exhilarating escapades from skiing and hunting to camping and even enchanting journeys to Disneyland. His adventurous spirit knew no bounds as he explored the world, seeking thrills from the snowy slopes to the bountiful waters of Alaska and many more destinations in between.
Dick and Carol reveled in the beauty of nature, spending summers amidst the serene landscapes of Canyon Ferry and Seeley Lake and embarking on vibrant escapades to Arizona in their cherished motorhome, appropriately named Ruffin-it. His wisdom and unwavering positivity touched the lives of many, painting the world with inspiration and warmth.
Dick is survived by his sister, Patti Swartz, his three children—Dennis (Robin) Nisbet, Doug (Laura) Nisbet, and Kari (Greg) Wald— his 6 grandchildren Jami Wright, Janna (Kyle) McBride, Tyler (Jessica) Wald, Ashley (Mike) Perez, Nichole (Cody) Colbert, and Jered (Chantel) Wald along with twelve wonderful great-grandchildren. Dick is preceded in death by his Wife, Carol Nisbet, His parents Kenneth and Leona Nisbet, Brothers, Dan Sims, Butch Nisbet, Nancy Lathim and his beloved grandson, Michael Nisbet.
Richard "Dick" Nisbet's legacy will endure through the countless hearts he touched and the tales he shared. As a devoted husband, father, and an exceptional storyteller, his impact will resonate for years to come, carrying on the spirit of adventure, love, and wisdom that defined his extraordinary life for many generations to come. Services for Dick and Carol Nisbet will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Simple Cremation Montana at 315 E 6th Avenue, Helena, MT with interment with Military Honors to follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Harrison.
