Obituary

Richard Wayne Berg, Rik to those who knew him, of Helena, Montana traveled from this timeline on July 5th, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

His new adventure leaves a few behind including his children, Jami Daehn (Andrew Daehn), Rikki Berg (Clayton Church), and Jalene Lott (Michael Lott), his grandchildren Sylis Daehn, Orin Daehn, Azreal Lott, Allie Williams, and Jerry Fox, and his siblings Brian Berg (Susan Berg), Taylor Berg, and David Berg (Celia Berg). Meeting him in the next timeline is his Mother Karol Berg, Father George Berg, and several other very loved and missed family members and friends.

His tremendous love for family and friends will forever be with us as we navigate this timeline without him. His greatest joy in life was being a Father, Papa, and Brother. His heart was the fullest when surrounded by people he loved.

As an enthusiast of far far away galaxies, earthly, and middle earthly adventures, he greeted the world with a curious and studious view, always searching for the good, wonderous, and mysterious. With a love for music, history, the strange and unusual, he could fill a room larger than The Library in the Tardis itself. With a joke, a beer, or conversation that lasted from dusk till dawn, he was always there to lend his humor and care. His absence leaves an inconceivable space.

Describing his personality as "larger than life" doesn't quite do him justice. He's the gravitational center of any gathering, drawing people in with stories that grow more outrageous (and more hilarious) with every telling. His presence fills the room—sometimes literally, when he'd gesture broadly and nearly knock over a lamp.

Yet, for all his grandiosity and volume, he was astonishingly attuned to those around him. Sensing when a joke is needed to break the tension, or when a laugh will lift a heavy heart. his big personality never overshadows others—instead, it invited everyone else to be bolder, louder, and more themselves.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 24th, 2025, from 2pm to 7pm in the Power Room at the Lewis and Clark brewery in Helena, MT.  (1517 Dodge Ave )

Please wear your favorite band, Sci-fi, or pop culture t-shirt. Bring your fun stories and fond memories. We look forward to celebrating and sharing our love of a man who meant so much to so many.

-No one travels alone. The Doctor always had companions – brave, loving, flawed, and wonderful. Rik's journey was no different. Each of us here was a companion on his voyage. We shared in moments of triumph, navigated the temporal storms of hardship, and found laughter in the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey parts of existence.

He cherished his companions. With the wisdom of a Gallifreyan, he understood that every person is bigger on the inside. He drew out the best in us, just as the Doctor's belief transforms the ordinary into the remarkable. If ever you doubted your worth, he reminded you – you were brilliant, fantastic, important.

And just as the Doctor's companions are forever changed by their travels, so too are we. The best companions don't just help the Doctor save worlds; they help the Doctor.

He has traveled on now, beyond our sight, where time and space are endless. Until we meet again, we will look up at the stars and remember all the adventures we shared, and we will smile, knowing that, for a while, we traveled together.

Geronimo.
