Oliver Jene Harp (Ollie), 96, from Helena, Montana passed away June 5, 2026, in Helena.
He was born on January 18, 1930, in Chestnutridge, Missouri to Tommy and Fannie Harp. He was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. After graduating High School, he went in the Navy serving four years stationed in San Diego.
After the Navy, he met his wife Nettie Gasaway in Sacramento and they married on May 20, 1954, in Reno, Nevada. They made their first home in Sacramento, then moved to Elk Grove to raise their three kids. He made his career being a sheet metal mechanic. When he retired, he and Nettie moved to Helena, where he built his log home.
They enjoyed traveling. They traveled to Australia, New Zealand, and went on several cruises. He really enjoyed bowling, often bowling three days a week. He bowled up until age 94, then gave it up because of a shoulder injury.
Oliver is survived by his son Randy Harp of Sacramento, and daughter Jenny Thiel (Rick) of Helena, grandchildren: Crystal Harp of Sacramento, Calvin Thiel of Helena, and Candice Mech (Micheal) of Reno, Nevada, great grandchildren: Clyde and Louise Mech, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his spouse Nettie who passed June 10, 2007, and his son Neal, and siblings: John, Jessie, Clara, Ermal, Minnie, and Bill.
There will be no services as to Oliver’s request.
