Obituary

Nola Jean Harker Jorgenson, 93, went home to live with Jesus on August 27, 2021, in Helena Montana. Jean was born on February 11, 1928 to Noel and Ruby Wilson Harker in Blackfoot, Idaho the oldest of 6 children.Jean's school-age years were spent moving to various locals in the United States with her family. Her father was a dragline operator and his services were needed by the government in the World War II war effort. The family faced each move with bravery and curiosity never knowing what to expect in the new community. One of her favorite stories was about living in tents one winter in Athol, Idaho. When Jean was 16, her father died and the family made their way back to Helena which was their favorite place. With her mother working to support the family, Jean became the caretaker of the younger children. Over the years her house was home-base for her siblings. Whenever a need arose she was there to support them in any way.Jean met her forever partner, Charles Jorgenson, while working as a waitress at the Montana Club. One day she was delighted to find the boss's handsome son, just back from the Navy, behind the steam table working as a cook. He noticed her, too.The Montana Club patrons enjoyed watching the budding romance. Chuck and Jean were married January 17,1948. Their wedding reception at the Montana Club was a gala event attended by folks of all walks of life.Jean spent many years working side by side with Chuck and his family. Their first endeavor was Jorgenson's Catering and Grocery on South Main. The business was a family affair and stories abound of catering at bull sales, private dinner parties, Civic Center banquets and picnics. Some of the best times were the weekend buffets catered at John & Sue Quigley's Frontier Town on MacDonald Pass. The Jorgenson family went on to build Jorgenson's Restaurant and Lounge, opening in 1958. Once again a family affair, Jorgenson's has been in operation over 60 years and is still in the family thanks to Jean's nieces Barbara Morris and Bonnie Andrew.Jean's home was always warm and welcoming. She had a way of emanating peace and relaxation to those around her. It could be said "She lived above the fray". While raising four daughters, she somehow found the the time to sew beautifully tailored wool coats and suits along with many prom dresses and school clothes. After retirement she took up quilting.Jean and Chuck retired from Jorgenson's in 1987. They spent most of their retirement years in the home they built on Hauser Lake. The 'lake house' was a family sanctuary of fun and good memories where they hosted many Harker family reunions. For the last seven years, Jean and her sister, Mary Lou Rupp, have lived together. Their love and respect for each other and Jesus was infectious and all that entered their home felt blessed. The sisters passed away within 3 weeks of each other. The love and generosity Jean shared will have long lasting influence for many generations.Jean was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, parents Noel and Ruby, brothers Ronnie Harker and Perry Wilson Harker, sister Mary Lou Rupp, infant son Dane Frederick Jorgenson and grandson Oden Synness. She is survived by her brother Joseph Darryl (Mary) Harker, sister Judy Rameriz, daughters and their spouses, Deborah (Ron) Jorgenson-Anderson, Christine (Steve Lohning) Jorgenson, Nola (Trent) Synness and Erin (Bill) Monnett.Grandchildren Nathan O'Neill, Lindsey Martin, Kira Loken, Rye Loken, Laurie Barrett (Oden), Noell Jorgenson, Talon (Amber) Monnett, and Kale Monnett.Great Grandchildren John O'Neill, Stella, Holden and Vivienne Martin, Oden Barrett, twins Cobi and Corbin Synness, Lily Jean Jorgenson and Ronan MonnettThe Jorgenson family would like to thank all the caregivers at Touchmark for the excellent care of our mother and her sister the last three years.
