Myron Evans
Ness
April 10, 1935 – July 26, 2025
Myron Evans Ness was born April 10th, 1935, to Rebecca Ann and Paul Ness in Chinook, Montana. He was raised with his two older brothers and a younger sister. He attended school in the Chinook school district and gradated in 1955. While in school he worked for the Chinook service station and the Farmers Union. In 1956, Myron and his buddies went down to the recruiter's office and volunteered to serve during the Vietnam War. He served 1-year active duty on a ship in the Asian Pacific, and 1 year in the reserves.
He married Billie Jean Crittenden of Turner on December 13th, 1959. Myron and Billie Jean then moved to Helena in 1961 where he worked for the Good Shepard home until 1966. They went on to have 3 children, Orin Ness 09/21/1960, Sherrie (Ness) Bertrand 10/16/1963 and Becky Jean (Ness) Ketchum 12/19/1966. From those 3 children he had 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Myron worked at Fort Harrison for 35 years before he retired in 1996.
Myron was an honored Past Master of the Boulder-Basin Lodge #41 and Marysville Ottawa Lodge #51.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He and Billie Jean were lifelong members of the Good Sam Camping Association and frequently went on trips across the state and Western US with their Good Sam group. In his later years he could be found at either Haps Bar or Nickles Gaming Parlor with Charlie have a beer and watching baseball.
Myron is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ronnie Ness and Gordon Ness, his wife Billie Jean, his brother-in-law Ray Middlestead, his son, and his grandchildren Cody Ray Bertrand and Kacie May Ketchum.
He is Survived by his sister Noma Middlestead, his 2 daughters, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and his best friend Charlie Johnston.
