Michael Alexander Nisbet was born to Douglas and Laura Nisbet on January 17, 1985 in Billings, Montana. He joined his big sister, Janna, and was followed by his little sister, Nichole whom he lovingly nicknamed Coco. The Nisbet family, as the three became known, were raised in Helena, Montana. Much to his mother's dismay in Kindergarten Michael adopted the nickname Mike. Mike explained that it was shorter and more convenient to write. As the middle child he was stubborn, energetic, and the most loving, big-hearted boy you could ever meet.
Thanks to his Dad and Colorado family, Mike was a diehard Denver Bronco fan. Mike grew up spending summers at Kim's Marina with his cousins and extended family at the lake and fell in love with it at a young age. His love for the lake continued into his adult life. He found joy wakeboarding and jetting around the lake with friends.
Mike's other passion was vehicles. You always knew Mike was coming because you could hear his amp a mile away dating back to high school. His love for loudspeakers and top of the line audio equipment led him to a career in audio installation. He studied in Arizona to become a Mobile Electronics Certified Professional earning a Silver Level First Class Installer Certification. He fined tuned his skills and gained valuable sales and business education from successful businesses including Good Vibrations in Billings and Baretta Audio in Helena and many others. Mike's talents and creativity paved the way for opening his own business, MT Motoring, where he lived out his dream customizing vehicles.
Mike's heart was just as big as his passions he and was a friend to everyone who crossed his path. Mike was an encourager, supporter, and would give anything he could to a friend in need. Mike was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and had too many best friends to name, including his cousins Tyler and Jered. Mike left this earth too soon for those of us left behind to live on without him when he chose to take his own life on June 4, 2023. He entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior where he was ultimately set free from his earthly struggles of depression and substance abuse. As you take time to celebrate Mike's beautiful life and your memories with him, please honor him by acknowledging your mental health and that of others. Be open to talk about mental health and suicide, be prepared to listen, be kind, and support one another through the struggles each of us encounters on this journey of life. In lieu of flowers, the family would like people to donate to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Montana at 1331 Helena Avenue, Helena, MT 59601. https://namimt.org/donate-nami-montana/
Mike is survived by his parents, Doug and Laura Nisbet, big sister, Janna McBride (Kyle) nieces, Makayla and Zoey, little sister, Coco Colbert (Cody), grandparents Dick and Carol Nisbet, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Carol Brainard and brother-in-law, Ryan McBride.
Please join us for a celebration of Mike's life on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Hannaford Street Bible Church in Helena, MT. We would love for you to bring and show off Mike's work, please bring your customized vehicle to display during the reception following the celebration.
We pray that you find hope in the midst of despair, strength to greet the days ahead without our loved one, and healing from our Lord who knows and loves each of you. God tells us in Psalm 147:3-5, He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
