Obituary

Marsha Henderson Collins, 67, of Helena, Montana passed away Thursday, November, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00PM Friday, November 18, at Simple Cremation Montana.

Marsha Henderson Collins (Country) of Helena, Montana passed away November of 2022 at the age of 67. She was comfortable in her home, with her daughter and dogs by her side.

Marsha was born in June of 1950 to Russel Henderson and Clotilda Pope. A few years later, Russel and Clotilda had Marsha's younger brother, Robby. Marsha and Robby were always up to something mischievous, from playing bear pranks on their mother to throwing pickles at some trench coats.

When Marsha turned 18 she bought a little 1973 Datsun pick up, loaded her dog Trampus, and she was off to see the country. Over the course of a year she and Trampus put nearly 40,000 miles on her little pick up, venturing out west and making many friends along the way. Marsha met her best friend Inez Wagner, and they quickly became inseparable. Together they showed horses, went on trail rides, and really enjoyed each other's company.

Marsha's adventurous spirit led her to do a little of everything, from tree planting to hitch hiking, as well as working in stables, dispatching, truck driving, and construction. In the late 80's, Marsha was working as the only female driver for Watkins Sheppard when she met Kacey Collins. The pair hit it off and became the company's first sleeper team. They went everywhere together, driving from Los Angeles, California to Missoula, Montana, Nevada and Colorado. During the summers, Marsha and Kacey enjoyed spending time with her step-daughter, Kacey Lee. They made a lot of memories while working at the gravel pit in Goldfield, NV, but eventually they wanted to try their hand at something new.

God decided it was time for Marsha's main occupation to be a mother, so He surprised her with a daughter in 1994. A few days after bringing her beautiful baby girl home, inspiration struck for the perfect name from the Sierra Nevada mountains and her mother-in-law Juanita, and so her daughter became Sierra Juanita. As wonderful as the name was, Kacey was always a little irritated at having a daughter named after a GMC pickup when all they ever drove were Fords.

Marsha was used to the hustling lifestyle when it came to trucks, but having Sierra terrorize everything in her path was a whole new ballgame. In '95, Kacey, Marsha, Sierra, and the dogs and cat all loaded up and headed for Montana where Marsha and Kacey bought A-1 Towing and Recovery Inc. The business was family owned and operated for 25 years. At times, it was quite the circus between the three of them.

Throughout her life she found many hobbies, from beading and sewing to cowboy action shooting.

Marsha knew early on that Sierra was going to be a handful, so she decided she'd better figure out a way to keep her in line. To do that, she gifted Sierra the same love she had for horses. Over the years, Marsha would take Sierra out on trail rides and even picked her up from school on horseback. Next thing she knew, she was sort of an over the road driver again, hauling Sierra and the horses all over Montana for horse shows and rodeos. Sierra always kept her parents on their toes between rodeo rescue missions and her fearlessness with horses.

Marsha and Kacey finally decided it was time for life to slow down so they sold A-1 Towing and enjoyed a year of retirement before time caught up to them. Marsha was a friend to many, the best mother to Sierra, and a faithful wife to Kacey. She will always be remembered for her smile, warm hugs, infectious laugh, and her tasty Christmas peppermint schnapps (or margaritas). Her grit is unrivaled, her wit unmatched, and her charisma is one of a kind. She taught Sierra many things, all important life lessons but most importantly to love fiercely and laugh at every opportunity.

Marsha is survived by her daughter, Sierra Collins, her brother, Robby Henderson, her crew of animals, all of her friends' & family. Marsha is preceded in death by her parents Russel Henderson and Clotilda Pope, her husband Kacey Collins, her best friend Inez Wagner. Waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge she met many dogs, cats, horses and other animals who have been waiting for her.
