IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Edwin
Niemeir
June 15, 1968 – November 10, 2025
Mark Edwin Niemeir beloved husband, father, and brother went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Franki and his children: son Tyler and granddaughter Brynlee, daughter Katie and grandson Trigg, daughter AnnaMarie, daughter Laura, grandchildren Jeremiah, Shyann and Lainey, son Mark (MJ), son Tristen, and son Bridger, sister Wendy, brother Don, brother James, and sister Carolee, and his parents Dr. Don and Phyllis Niemeir.
Mark was born in Redding, California on June 15,1968. He had to be born on that day because the doctor was leaving the next day on a fishing trip.
Mark was a committed husband and father. As an avid sportsman, he shared his love for the outdoors with his family, sharing his hunting and fishing skills with his wife and children, which they put to good use on a lifelong series of hunting and fishing adventures. Mark was an excellent houndsman and his hunting dogs were among the best in the state for hunting mountain lions and bobcats. Hunting "cats" was a passion with Mark. He was out with his dogs the entire season for both the hunt and the chase season. Hunting and taking videos of his hunting adventures. Some of his trips for lions and deer were featured on nationally televised hunting shows. Mark always made sure his children joined the hunting and fishing adventures. He also volunteered as a "little guy" wrestling coach supporting and encouraging his children in their involvement in football, track, gymnastics, and rodeo.
Mark was an avid reader; he loved history and mountain men stories. He loved stories of the wild west and hunting and fishing stories. He always had a story of his outdoor adventures to share with a willing audience. He was known for his story telling. He would bring life to every adventure in great detail making you wish you could have been there too. Someone once asked Mark how he had so many stories to tell. Mark said well…first you have to get out of the house.
Mark went to work for Gary Ince Construction in Ravalli County, Montana right after graduation from high school. Working as a carpenter, where he learned to build houses. Having learned the trade, he decided to start his own business, Niemeir Construction, as a framing contractor. He built a reputation as an excellent builder in western Montana, especially in Helena and Butte, where he was known for quality work, done quickly, at a fair price. Consequently, he was always busy. Mark and his construction team also helped build housing for disabled veterans at no cost, giving them a mortgage free home. He and his construction team donated their labor and experience to churches that needed help with their building programs. Mark treated his employees with respect, and shared with them the fruit of their labors and they became family. Joining the Niemeir clan for holidays and get togethers. All he asked from his employees was that they "showed wood" his term for production. Each days effort ought to reveal progress. Everyone was committed to getting the job done. It seemed he never met a stranger and was ready to give someone who had stumbled in life a second chance to make good. If life is not measured by the time we are here but by the difference we make and the good we have done. Mark's life is a race well run.
