Mark Steven Melkush, of Helena MT passed away in his sleep at Apple Rehab Cooney on April 3, 2021. 28 days after being diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. He was 56 years old.Mark was born on January 30, 1965 in Miami FL to Donald and Alice Mlekush. He was the oldest of three children. He grew up in the Helena Valley on Mill Road and graduated from Capital High School. Life wasn't easy for Mark, but his parents always said he was the easiest baby ever and brought them much joy. Mark loved music researching his ancestry, reading, and visiting with anyone he ran into. He loved to watch The Golden Girls, The Three Stooges, Hart to Hart, James Bond and any musical he could find.He was an active and dedicated member of the Cathedral of Saint Helena, where he attended services regularly and often volunteered. Often you could find Mark either walking or riding his bike around the Helena area. He loved the outdoors and helping people.Mark is survived by siblings, Donna Hofferber, and Michael Mlekush, nephews and niece, Nicholas Hofferber, Teague Mlekush, and Laura (Josh Moore) Hennings, great nephew and niece, Landon and Madison Moore all of Helena. Mark was also survived by his uncle, Kenneth Mlekush and wife, Paula, of Greensboro, N.C.; his aunt, Linda Mlekush of Big Timber; Aunt Betty Coonrod, of Lexinton KY; and many cousins and second cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Alice Mlekush; grandparents Andrew and Edna Mlekush Jr.; Clarence and Mary Coonrod; aunts Eileen Gatz and Mother Michael Mary; uncles, Donald and John Coonrod; and many great grand parents and great aunts and uncles.Special thanks to Marshall Greene for talking Mark to the hospital on March 6, 2021 which lead to the diagnosis and the ability to make sure that Mark's wishes were met.
