Lona Ruth Ammons (Blumer), age 85, of Harlowton, MT passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 of natural causes. Lona was born in Harlowton, MT to Ruth Lona Blumer (Oliver) and David Wilhelm Blumer on September 27, 1936. She attended school there until she graduated in 1954. She then went to Eastern Montana College in Billings, MT, where she met John Ammons and later married him on December 18, 1954. A couple years after their wedding they moved to Louisiana, where she continued her education while raising her four beautiful daughters. About 15 years later, they relocated to Helena, MT and then later moved to Boise, ID. Lona was very involved in every church she attended, especially in the choir as she loved to sing. She also adored the outdoors and being active; including regular walks, hunting, fishing, and just being outside. One of her favorite places in the world was the Blumer family cabin in the Castle Mountains, where she will return for her final resting place. Lona was known by friends and family as "the energizer bunny" because she always kept going. Even after doctors gave her a prognosis with a timeline, she continued to enjoy a happy life for decades. She survived cancer four times along with the many surgeries and treatments that went along with it. She was an incredibly strong, thoughtful, and compassionate person. Lona was preceded in death by her parents, (Ruth and David), her siblings (John Blumer and Jean Walker), her daughters (Debra Copeland and Dell Garbarino), and her great-granddaughter (Maria Gregor). She is survived by her daughters (Dolores Treichler and Donna [Glenn] Gregor), 12 grandchildren, an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren, and endless nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. In memory of her, Lona requested that her loved ones attend a Sunday service at her church, the East Helena United Methodist Church. A private family ceremony will be held over the summer of 2022.
