On the morning of March 1, 2022 Lois Johnson passed away at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, after a recent diagnosis of stage IV small cell lung cancer. Lois was born the second of four children to Matthew and Mildred Vook, in Helena. She was raised in East Helena and graduated from Helena High School. Shortly after high school, Lois married Gifford Johnson and they had three children; Mark, Dean, and Cindy. Lois lived between Helena, Billings, and Avon and held several jobs in each of those places.Lois' pride and joy were her grandchildren, nephews, and great grandchildren. For their entire lives, Lois was very involved in all aspects of their activities; school, church, Boy Scouts and sports. Lois was their number one fan, missing very few baseball, football, and soccer games. In all her years of supporting her grandsons, she also became involved in the lives of their close friends. Before retirement, Lois worked as a para educator at East Valley Middle School, showing that her love for children reached farther than blood lines. Even after retirement, and thanks to social media, Lois stayed involved in the lives of all of the children she watched grow up. She was always the source for who was living where, up to wat, and how cute their little kids were. One of Lois' hobbies was crocheting, and that was one of the ways she showed she cared. Lois will always be remembered for her love for children, animals, the outdoors, and for her crocheted creations.Lois is survived by her brothers; Randy Vook (Candy), Jim Vook (Joy), her children; Mark Johnson (Karen), Dean Johnson, and Cindy Baxter-Ross, her grandchildren; Dillon Johnson (Alyssa) and Nathan Baxter, her great grandchildren; Daejah and Kloie, and nieces and nephews; Teresa, Josh, AJ, Wade, Caleb, and special friends; Lee, Logan, and Lucas Johnson.Lois is preceded in death by; Matthew and Mildred Vook, Martin Vook and Amy Vook Rolfe.Private services will be held later.
