A Life of Dedication, Ingenuity, and Family

Surrounded by the love of his family at home, Lawrence (Larry) Hall passed away from cancer on January 10, 2026. Born August 3, 1943, in Miles City, Montana, to Newman and Marjorie Hall, Larry's journey through life was one of hard work, creativity, and devotion to those he cared for most.

Larry's early years were spent on ranches at Ekalaka and Powder River County, before

the family moved to Olive, Montana, during his eighth-grade year. Here, Larry discovered a love for horses and machinery. Summers were filled with the challenges of hay and hay fever, shaping his remarkable work ethic and knack for "figuring things out." His formal education ended during his junior year of high school, but his education in life was just beginning.

In 1962, Larry married his lifelong partner, Mary Gali. They started dating when he drove his mother (a teacher) to a country grade school and then gave Mary and her sister a ride to high school. Together, they raised three children-Sherry, Deborah, and Richard-instilling in them the same values of resilience and determination.

Larry worked on the family ranch until 1973, when health issues led the family to Helena, Montana. There, he spent four years as a superintendent for Watters Construction before founding Hall Earth Moving. The sight of yellow and black equipment became a hallmark of his new business, which he grew from humble beginnings-often with Mary and the kid’s raking dirt from sunup to sundown. Larry poured his heart, soul, and earnings into the business, proud to work side-by-side with his son and grandson. Even though Larry could not be on the ranch, this is where his heart always remained.

A gifted craftsman and problem solver, Larry could build, remodel, or repair anything mechanical that came his way. His ingenuity and hands-on wisdom were passed down to his children and grandchildren, who learned more from his example than any computer could teach. Countless hours were spent in the shop, transforming used equipment into something better than new.

Larry cherished his role in the lives of his grandchildren. Grady was his constant companion, learning the family business, while Austin, Dustin, and Kasee found Larry's support in their ambitious 4-H projects and other undertakings. He was always there to lend a helping hand with their animals, vehicles, and homes.

The family circle was joyfully completed by great-granddaughters Addelyia and Amelia, whose energy and laughter filled Larry's home with happiness and new challenges. When they were not with him, he spent much time on his cellphone looking at all the cute pictures of these two little girls.

Larry now joins his parents, Newman and Marjorie, and his siblings Curt and Gaylene in heaven. He is forever remembered by his wife Mary; children Sherry, Deborah, and Richard; grandchildren Grady Hall, Austin (Emily) Clark, Dustin (Tayla), and Kasee Clark; and great-grandchildren Addelyia and Amelia Clark.

Honoring Larry's wishes, no funeral will be held. The family will celebrate his life at a later date, remembering a man whose legacy endures in every lesson learned, every machine mended, and every heart he touched.
