Obituary

June Morgan Gilbreath died October 13 in Helena, Montana.

She was born in Mercer County, Kentucky and spent her teenage years in Harrodsburg. In her youth she enjoyed many happy days traveling with her beloved Aunt Lillian, including summers at the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky, she began a teaching career. She taught in St. Michaels, Maryland for three years and then returned to Kentucky, where she was a teacher in the Jefferson County public schools for over 30 years.

She always looked forward to a beautiful day at Churchill Downs, and was a proud member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Throughout her life, she had a quick wit and a keen sense of humor. In addition to reveling in the company of her grandchildren whenever possible, she enjoyed playing Bridge and Scrabble with her friends, read her Kindle avidly, and worked a mean crossword puzzle.

She was a member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Louisville, KY.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 55 years, Robert L. Gilbreath, and her granddaughter, Emily L. Gilbreath.

Surviving her are her children Lee (Teresa) Gilbreath of Glen Rock, New Jersey and Julie (Mike) Mull of Helena, Montana, her sister Dorothy Daugherty of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and her grandchildren Kyra Gilbreath, Joshua Mull, and Branan Mull.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the charity of your choice.
