Obituary

On the morning of August 10, 2021 our dear father, grandfather, brother and uncle, John D McIntosh passed away at St Peters Hospital. He was born on November 22, 1941 to Charles and Vera McIntosh. He was born and raised in Helena, where as a teenager he and some friends had to be rescued from a mine shaft. He attended Helena High, but had to drop out of school to help his mom, so he went to work. During his time at Helena High, he played on the football team and they were disappointed he had to leave. He always was telling us he could have been a professional football player. Now wouldn't that have been awesome to see. As time went by John joined the National Guard in the early 1960's and received his GED while in the service. What an honor for him. He started out as an automotive repairman and went to numerous trade schools for training. He retired as an E7 in 1995 as a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He taught his children to work hard, setting an example as a hard worker and help others when we can. He helped many people during his life and took pride in that. On October 30, 1964 he married Antoinette Ruth George. They later divorced in October 1996. They had four children Tessa Nordahl, Samantha "Sam" Wells, Shane McIntosh and Amber McIntosh. They enjoyed camping, bowling, skiing, snowmobiling and pool, which he was very good at all. He taught us children to love the outdoors. He then met Carol Deschon and they enjoyed camping and playing bingo, especially going to Worley, ID to participate in the fun there, until Carol passed away in December 2016. The ladies hated when he called out bingo, which was quite frequent. He would give them all his mischievous grin. Our dad was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors fishing, camping, snowmobiling and skiing, but most of all hunting with family and friends. His favorite hunting spot was Elk Ridge. Listening to him and Uncle Ed George tell stories of their hunting adventures would leave one's belly hurting from laughing so hard. He took pride in going out every Christmas season to collect the "perfect" tree. One year he came, sat up a Charlie Brown Christmas tree and our mom picked that tree up and threw it out the door. Of course, he did have the perfect one on the side of the house. We kids were shocked by the whole scene, but oh how our dad laughed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jim and Terry McIntosh, his late wife Antoinette McIntosh, and his significant other Carol Deschon. He is survived by his sister, Mickey (Jim) Cozzie, sister-in-laws, Florence "Floss" and Patti McIntosh. His daughters, Tessa Nordahl, Samantha "Sam" Wells, Amber (Paul) McIntosh and son, Shane McIntosh all of Helena. Twelve grandchildren, John Wells, Terri (Mark) Lorenz, Zane Wells, Mya Wells, Erik McIntosh, Cody Wells, Rachel (Dillon) Beveridge, Jared (Laci) Piilola, Keith Bright, Skyler McIntosh, Mackenzie Bright and Liam McIntosh. Seven great grandchildren, Jasmyn Lorenz, Morgan Lorenz, Draven Wells, Selena Barraza, Vivian Wells, Xander Mundaniohl and Paxton Piilola. He claimed he had a bonus granddaughter, Jillian "Bugsy" Richards, whom he took great pride in spoiling and his beloved dog Frankie. John was involved in the Helena Moose Lodge 639, where he was Sargent of Arms for two years and enjoyed attending the conventions, especially in Vegas, where he could watch the pretty girls and crash his scooter to get their attention or ask them if they wanted a ride. Oh goodness, he had us laughing. The family would like to thank St. Peter's Health, St Patrick's Hospital in Missoula and all the doctors and healthcare staff, who did their best for our father, John. His Celebration of Life will be held on October 9, 2021 at 2pm at the Moose Lodge in Helena
