IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Robert (Bob)
Frazer
July 31, 1953 – December 26, 2025
Mass
Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Mountain time)
Bob passed away December 26, 2025 in his Helena residence at the Renaissance Assisted Living. Beloved brother, son, uncle and friend, Bob fought his long battle against spinocerebellar ataxia with unwavering grace and dignity.
Born in Billings, MT, the 2nd of 7 children to Mary Claire and Kenneth Joseph Frazer, Bob lived most of his childhood in Columbia Falls, MT. He enjoyed participating in multiple team sports and developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. Beginning with family camping trips, Bob became an avid sportsman, hunting, fishing and backpacking throughout Montana.
Bob was a hard worker all his life, from his first paper route in junior high, through a wide variety of jobs, until health forced his retirement in 1998. He tried college but decided he enjoyed more hands-on work, so switched to the Helena Vo-Tech, where he studied diesel mechanics and long-haul truck driving. After one too many harrowing winter driving experiences in his semi, he traded driving for working on trucks full time. He bought his diesel mechanic shop, Darroll’s Truck Service, in Great Falls, which he operated for 18 years with many loyal customers.
Bob’s faith was an essential and sustaining part of his life. He was truly one of God’s gentle creatures on earth, never angry, judging no one and known always for his sense of humor, which survived to the very end. He perfected the art of living simply and realized the whole point of being on earth is to love others. Generous and kind, he lived his 72 years without ever having an enemy, touching untold numbers with his quiet acts of charity.
In addition to his faith, family was always a top priority. Beloved brother to his six siblings and in-laws, Kenny (Diane), Kate (Grant), Carol, Linda (Mike), Bill (Vickie) and Theresa (Steve), Uncle Bob was also treasured by his 10 nieces and nephews who survive him, as do 2 great nephews and a great niece. Survivors also include his Aunt and Godmother Marj Sherwood, and several generations of wonderful cousins.
The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided by the Renaissance staff, St Peter's Hospice, & Dale Wilcox, Personal Care Attendant, and eternally thankful for our Sibling on the Scene, sister Carol, who was Bob’s devoted caretaker and advocate for over 20 years. There will be an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on May 5th at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, followed by a luncheon on site. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Helena Food Share, Good Samaritan Ministries of Helena, St Peter's Hospice, or the charity of your choice. Please follow Bob's loving example and be kind to others.
