Obituary

Jesse Dylan Carroll came into this world on October 19, 1992, in Elizabethton, T.N. He joined his three older brothers as they journeyed through the hills and swamps of East Tennessee, and then on to Elliston, Montana when he was 8. Jesse was a boy, and man who loved life, and was adamant about doing things his way. He was resilient in adversity, loyal to his friends and family, and lived a full life. At the young age of seven or so he would take his friends' advice over his parents. When he had a plan or goal to meet, he would go for it.

He was a man of many passions, and whether it was fishing, hunting, or a friendly game of baseball or golf, Jesse had an uncanny knack for making every moment count. His love for choir in high school was testament to his many talents, earning him varsity letters two years at Powell County High School and two years at Capital High School. Of course, he later said he liked choir because it was an easy "A" for him!

Jesse was not just a man of talents, but a man of strength and hard work. After many years as a self-employed insulator with TKJams in Helena, Jesse moved to the Denver area and joined the IBEW union, working for Sturgeon, Hooper, and finally at Hamon Infrastructure, where his work crew, led by Alyson, became like a second family. He was working in a heavy equipment operator apprenticeship program, further showcasing his dedication to his craft.

Though he was a hard worker, Jesse also had a softer side. He had a special bond with his dog, Juno, who was his faithful companion for over 12 years, and his nieces and nephews knew him as the fun-loving uncle who always had plenty of candy to share. He also loved eating. Keeping him fed was a full-time job for his mom Lisa. His co-workers used to give him much of their food when he ran out. His tales of getting the "belly-ache" from bad gas station food were legendary!

Jesse loved hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers. He had an eagle eye and was an excellent shot. He often deferred taking a shot at a deer to his brothers, not so with the chance to shoot an elk though! Once when his dad pushed a 6-point bull elk in front of the boys, Jesse said "He's mine!" However, while he was talking Jake was shooting, and he got to tag the bruiser!

Jesse could catch fish when everyone else was giving up. A co-worker of Dave's took him fishing when he was about 10 on the Little Blackfoot. Jerry thought an hour or so is all most kids can take when fishing a small river with grasshoppers. Well, when the 'hoppers ran out, Jerry said "Guess it's time to go." Jesse looked at him and said something like, "Are you crazy, there's grasshoppers all over the place, and fish to catch." It was August and the grasshoppers were jumping all over. They fished until Jerry was worn out! When Jesse landed a 16-inch cutthroat Jerry said, "You have to let that one go, it's a cutthroat." Jesse said something like, "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!" And that fish made it home to the skillet!

His friends Michael, Peter, Coy, Jim, Terry, Dom, Gabby and Olivia were very special to him as he went through his teen years and early adulthood. They had some amazing times with their Gilly suits, "borrowing" yard gnomes from people and placing them around Helena, paintballing and long-boarding.

Growing up in a missionary-pastor's home Jesse knew a lot about the Bible, Jesus and what genuine faith was. Even before he knew Jesus as his personal Savior if he listened to a preacher who did not get it right, he would say something like, "That guy never even shared the gospel!"  After Jesse prayed to receive Jesus as his Savior in 2019, he walked close to the Lord for a while. During the last year of his life, he became a faithful attendant of the Zion Congregational Church in Brighton, Colorado. Jesse's life was filled with love - for his family, his friends, and for his work. He is survived by his father Dave, his mother Lisa, and his brothers Chuck (Meghan), Isaac (Denise), Jake (Renay), Cody (Vanessa) and sister Elena Egan (Josh), Grandmother Eloise Alverson, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He had a special bond with them all. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog and companion Juno. Jesse has left us way too soon for our liking, but God had a different plan for our son. Jesse remains a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be remembered as a funny, charismatic, and resilient man who loved life and lived it to the fullest.

We invite you to share your memories of Jesse and upload photos to his memorial page. Let us celebrate his life and remember the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives.
