Obituary

James (Jay) Peter Moser passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, after a brief battle with throat

cancer. He was 60 years old.

Jay was born on August 12, 1962, in Helena, Montana, to Mary Lorea Copenhaver Moser and

James Franklin Moser. Jay's early years were spent with his older sister, Colleen, and younger

brother, Tom. The family lived on Helena's west side, and Jay attended school at Broadwater

Elementary. When Jay was ten, his family moved to York Road on Hauser Lake and established

a family business, Moser Marina. He attended East Helena schools and graduated from Capital

High School in 1980. He went on to Helena College of Technology earning degrees in Auto

Mechanics and Small Engine Repair.

Jay held various positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana for ten years before taking

over the operation of the family business. He became owner of Moser Marina after the loss of

his mother in 2013. Jay took pride in maintaining the grounds of the marina and connecting with

returning clients each summer. He could often be found tending to the lush green lawns and

enjoying the peacefulness of the lakefront property.

Jay had a love for animals. Stray cats and dogs always found a welcome and loving home with

Jay. He cared for many pets over the years including Lucky, his miniature white poodle, and

Sugar, his snickerdoodle. Jay enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and sharing laughs with close

friends while watching movies and comedy television.

Jay is survived by his sister Colleen (Scott) Teberg, niece Lisa (Rory) Teberg-Johnson, and his

great niece Rooney Johnson. He is also survived by his close friends Kathy Tetrault, Braydon

Pennington, and Hayley Pennington.

Jay is preceded in death by his father and mother, younger brother Thomas Michael Moser, and

nephew Alex James Teberg.

A graveside blessing at Sunset Memorial Gardens will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at

4:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at Moser Marina, 5371 York Road. Jay requested a

picnic of his favorite foods and casual lake attire. For those who wish to stay until dusk, a candle

lighting and campfire (fire restriction depending) will be held to close the evening in his honor.

Memorial donations can be made to Wild About Cats Rescue and Sanctuary or a charity of the

Donor's choice.

Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family. Remembrances and condolences may be sent to the family at simplecremationmt.com.
