James (Jim) Lee Lawrence, 78 of Helena, MT (Moberly, MO) passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022. Born on June 13, 1943 to Herbert E. Lawrence Sr. and Dorothy Schneider in Moberly, Jim attended Moberly High School, Moberly Junior College and Southwest Missouri State University. He married his wife of 46 years, JoAnn Lawrence, in Westminster, California in 1975. His love for Indy cars, racing, trucks, ukuleles, music, and tractors was only secondary to his love for his grandsons. Each held a special place in his heart, now and forever. He worked for Triangle Auto Supply in Moberly. He later moved into marketing for several US petroleum companies and had the opportunity to travel across the globe. He retired from the petroleum industry in 1996 when he, JoAnn, and his sister Judy Lawrence purchased their KOA campground in Manchester, CA. There, they enjoyed campground ownership for the next 10 years in beautiful northern California. Jim's next adventure brought him and JoAnn to Montana. He found his favorite passion, helping children through Special Olympics and finally, became CEO Emeritus of Intermountain Children's Home. He thoroughly enjoyed and valued his volunteer time with Intermountain and remained active as long as he could. He was incredibly proud of this work and of this organization.Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dorothy Lawrence, and brother Herbert "Junior" Lawrence. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Lawrence, Helena, MT; son, Michael Eric Lawrence, St. Louis and daughter, Robin Lee Haux (Shane), Helena, MT; grandsons, Eric James "EJ" Lawrence, St. Louis, Bret Haux and Ramsey Charles Haux, both of Helena, MT; sister, Judy Lawrence, Moberly, MO, and sister-in-law's, Mona Lawrence, Moberly, MO and Roberta Fennel (Steven) of Omaha, NE; nephews/nieces, Scott Lawrence, Moberly, MO; Keith (Tracy) Lawrence, Lenexa, KS; Todd Lawrence, Overland Park, KS; Kyle (Jenny) Lawrence, Rocheport, MO; Kimberly Fennel-West (Bob), Omaha, NE; and Steven Fennel, Bellevue, NE. Special family and friends include: Peggy Sturgess, Florissant, MO and Mark Rice, St. Charles, MO for opening up your home and hearts to us; Linda Fogerstrom Jarrett (Bob), all extended family and friends, and last, but not least "BOY HOWDY" to all the Buffoons! A celebration of Jim's life will be held on March 20, 2022, 3pm, at the Stoney Brook Village Clubhouse (20 Stoney Brook Dr, Clancy MT 59634).
