Obituary

Harley Eugene Stevenson was born November 11, 1933, to Arthur and Aldina Dimick in Grass Valley, California. He and his younger brother Byron grew up in the SDA Church Pathfinders enjoying the California outdoors. He loved finding interesting rocks and collected amazing specimens throughout his 91 years.

Harley met Jeannette Davis, a beautiful young woman at Monterey Bay Academy before being drafted into the Army in June 1953 upon his high school graduation. His mother had remarried to Robert Stevenson and Harley had the opportunity to change his name to Harley Stevenson when entering the draft.  Jeannette waited for his return while earning her nursing degree. In the Army, Harley was trained as a medic and served our country earning a Good Conduct Medal at Fort Bragg as well as the National Defense Service Medal by the end of his service in May 1955.

God blessed the marriage of Harley and Jeannette on November 4, 1956, in Nevada City, California as Harley completed his nursing degree. Harley broke ground being one of the first male nurses at various California hospitals; DeWitt, Weimar and County Hospital.  His career included his role as a psychiatric nurse, head of nursing and manager of a nursing home.

Together Harley and Jeannette served the Lord God in their marriage of 67 years. They were members of Grass Valley SDA Church, Cave Junction SDA Church, Caldwell SDA Church and Helena SDA Church.

Harley and Jeannette were blessed with five children. They were predeceased by their third son Jimmy who lived but 12 hours. Their living children are Calvin Stevenson (Gail) of Trout Creek, MT; Brenda Mehl of Meridian, ID; Alan Stevenson (Melinda) of Helena MT; and Heidi McLeod (Sean) of Flippin, AR. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren have also been the fruit that has multiplied.

Harley lived for Jesus and knew when he was laid to rest, he would soon awaken to see Jesus, his wonderful friend and Savior. Harley and Jeannette's greatest desire is to be joined together in Jesus with their family and friends.
