Gordon Duane
Bruce
June 20, 1938 – May 24, 2026
Montana State Veterans Cemetery (Fort Harrison)
3:00 - 3:30 pm (Mountain time)
Gordon Duane Bruce known lovingly as “Jigger” passed away on May 24, 2026, in Helena, Montana at the age of 89. He was born June 20, 1938, in Fallon County, Montana where his lifelong love of the outdoors first took root.
Jigger was a man who never sat still for long. He served his country in the miliary as an MP, leading to a short-term job as chief of police in Baker. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting. But if you really wanted to find him, you would look out on the water, up in the mountains, or somewhere on a golf course. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoor enthusiast who never passed up a chance to go camping or traveling.
The love he had for life was truly special and he had a way of bringing a smile to whatever situation he would talk in to.
For 62 years Jigger was faithfully married to his wife Joyce Bruce, caring for her devotedly till the day she passed. Their bond was the kind that stands as testament to what commitment and love really look like.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce Bruce and his son Bobby J Lyman. He is survived by his grandson Jay Lyman. He was the best grandfather anyone could ask for.
A gathering of remembrance will be held at Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery in Helena, MT on June 10th at 3 pm. May he rest peacefully in the arms of the lord he faithfully served.
Jigger was the last of a dying breed. They simply do not make em like that anymore and he will be greatly missed.
