IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Alan
Brockway
December 5, 1958 – April 30, 2024
Gary Alan Brockway passed peacefully at home on April 30th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was taken by the cancer he battled for a decade. When first diagnosed he said all he wanted was 5 good years of fishing, which he well exceeded.
Gary was born on December 5th, 1958 at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Montana to Albert and Lorraine Brockway. Gary attended Lincoln, Helena Jr. High, Helena High School, and Helena Vo Tech Center.
Gary had very adventurous opportunities working on "seismograph" throughout the west, being dropped in remote areas by helicopter, in various gold mines near Helena, and many construction projects until his retirement.
In 1987 Gary settled in East Helena where he lived with his 3 stepchildren. He became everything to Jennifer, Jared, Jonathan, and his dog Jinx. He could be found watching his grandkids sporting events or coaching his kid's baseball team.
When Gary wasn't working and raising his stepchildren and grand kids, he was somewhere above Marysville stalking deer, elk, and huckleberries, out at the Gates jigging Walleye, or on the ice stacking Perch. Though if you asked exactly where, he seemed always to be right next to No Tell 'Em Creek, which is just up there around the bend. One of his great moments was catching and releasing a 14.5 lb Walleye on Holter. He was a true Montanan.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers Mike and Dave (Stephanie). 8 nieces and nephews, 3 stepchildren, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren to whom he will always be their beloved G-Pa.
A celebration of life will be held at the Glass Slipper, 5720 Canyon Ferry Rd, Sunday May 26th 1-5. Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family.
