IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gail Marie
Byler
April 27, 1939 – September 11, 2025
Gail Marie Vohnson Byler departed her earthly body to be with her Heavenly Father and Jesus, on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 3:05 pm, in Helena, Montana, with her youngest daughter Jennifer, by her side.
Gail Marie Vohnson was born in Wahpeton, North Dakota on April 27, 1939 to Einer and Rose (Becker) Vohnson, joining her older sister, Monica Rae. Gail's older brother, Gary, passed away in infancy. The Vohnson family later welcomed Gail's younger sister, Pamela Rose.
Gail graduated from Milwaukie High School in Oregon in June of 1957. She was married later that same month to Robert (Bob) Timm, also of Milwaukie. Gail and Bob had 3 children together, Rachelle (Shelley) Rae, David, and Jennifer Gail (Hammack). Gail and Bob divorced in 1970, and Gail married Glenn Hale Byler later that year. Gail and Glenn were married until his early death in 1991.
Gail had a passion for textile and design. She loved thrifting. She loved decorating and designing home decor and refinishing furniture. She had a great talent of packaging most things in life with her unique style and love. She had a beautiful soul.
Glenn and Gail enjoyed many years of camping and fishing throughout Central Oregon. They passed this love of adventure, fishing and campfires onto their children.
Gails careers included modeling, hostess, selling cosmetics over the years, and vitamins and supplements at Healthway in Clackamas Oregon, and then at Natures Grocery in Portland. She was a master at all her crafts. Her favorite career though, was Antique Dealer at Stars Antique Mall, in the Moreland area of Portland, Oregon. For a few years Gail and Glenn owned their own shop, and then Gail alone, sold their unique wares at antique shows.
Her final 3 years of life were spent with her daughter Jennifer and family, living in Bozeman MT, and then eventually in Helena, MT. She was loved by many including the caregivers that came to know her kindness, warmth and spunky personality. These attributes of her personality remained strong until her final days.
Gail is survived by her 3 children, Shelley, David (Tami), and Jennifer (Jeff); her 4 grandchildren, Danielle and Ashleigh Timm, and Jacob and Jillian Hammack; her sister Pamela (David); and nieces and nephews. Gail also had stepchildren, Dan, Glenn, and Regi Byler, and grandchildren.
