Obituary

Frank William Motchenbach died peacefully in his home on November 4th, 2023.  Frank did not want to leave his home and had hoped to pass with the family belongings beside him.  Frank was one month short of his 97th birthday.

Frank was born on December 9th, 1927, in Helena, MT, to John W. 'Bill' and Lois (Hershner) Motchenbach.  Frank grew up in Helena and could recall all the local stores in his neighborhood from when he was a boy.  He graduated from Helena High School and attended Montana State College in Bozeman, the University of Montana in Missoula, and the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He completed a Master's Degree in El Paso, TX.

Frank went to work in Seattle at the Boeing airplane factory in 1944 while still in high school.  He returned to graduate high school before going on to college.  After completing his education, Frank was a librarian and teacher in Helena, El Paso, Butte, and Missoula.

Frank was a widely traveled man, having been in every state, across the European continent, into the Soviet Union, and the British Isles, and made trips to Africa, South America, and Mexico.

Frank was a proud veteran who served the country in the Korean War era.  He earned an honorable discharge but remained in the Army Reserve until 1958.

Frank was the last of the Motchenbach family in Helena, preceded in death by Bill, Lois, and Larry.  He missed his brother and his parents and discussed reuniting with them when he "passed over to the other side."  Frank's remains have been cremated, and he will be interred next to his brother and mother in Forestville Cemetery.

Simple Cremation Montana has assisted the family.
