Obituary

Evon Lee Kolar, 65, passed away after her courageous battle with cancer, in the early morning of Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Fort Harrison VA Hospital in Helena MT. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Evon was born January 15, 1960 in Seattle WA. She grew up in Adna, WA, on the family farm.  She enjoyed 4H activities and created beautiful cakes with her mother. Evon graduated high school, class of '78.  Shortly after she joined the armed forces, and became a Yeomen for the United States Navy. She respectfully served this country for 14 years.

Evon was a hard worker and held many roles in the service industry, from manager to bouncer, while raising her children in West Yellowstone, MT.

She received her bachelor's degree in Social work, later in life,  and used this degree to help children in need.

Evon was a free spirit with a big smile and kind heart, who loved her family. She was passionate, empathetic, selfless and dedicated. She enjoyed reading, music, dancing, fashion, ghost hunting, and was a Riki Master. She saw beauty in everything and loved to laugh.  Evon is survived by her husband Richard Kolar, her children, Christin (Ricky) Calhoun, Joseph Sneed, Rita Dukes Turner and Laura (Dustin) Dukes Hojem. Her siblings, Chuck (Julie) Goodwin, and Jimmie Simpkins. She had 21 grandchildren, whom she adored.

Evon was proceeded in death by her parents William and Deanna Simpkins;  Charles Goodwin, and siblings, Derrome (Leslie) Goodwin and Eric Lysene.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
