Dwaine Caussyn, 90, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026 after a long, productive and fulfilling life. Dwaine was born in Crosby, ND on May 24,1936 and grew up in the farming community of Noonan, ND with his parents, two brothers and a large extended family. He graduated high school where he was a standout basketball player and musician (clarinet). After high school he graduated from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, certified in Auto Mechanics. On September 1, 1956 he married Elaine Regan in Noonan and they were happily married for 47 years before she passed away on February 26, 2004.

Dwaine and Elaine moved to Helena, MT in 1962 with three children and their fourth was born in Helena. They built a home in East Helena and settled there. Dwaine worked for Capital Ford and then became the manager of Fleet Services for the General Services Administration of the federal government. His greatest joys were spending time with his wife and raising his children. He enjoyed baseball in East Helena, building and flying radio-controlled planes with the Flying Tigers, and building beautiful furniture in his home shop. He was multi-talented and could build or fix anything. He also excelled at golf and loved boating, camping and fishing.

After their children entered high school and left home for college, he and Elaine began new adventures, riding Gold Wing touring motorcycles with friends to many locations in the Rocky Mountain west, and traveling in their motor home. They were avid golfers and played at many fine golf courses in their travels. After Dwaine’s retirement from GSA, they traveled and bought a second home at Palm Creek Resort in Casa Grande, AZ. They shared great times with friends and their beloved dog, Sadie.

Dwaine enjoyed reading and staying current with world events and politics. He was intelligent and a wonderful conversationalist with a great sense of humor. He loved animals, particularly dogs, and enjoyed taking walks and visiting with people. He was baptized in the Catholic Church and was an active member of the St. Cyril and Methodius church in East Helena since 1964. His faith was the foundation of his marriage, parenting, work ethic and relationships.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his wife Elaine; his mother Martha and father Emil Caussyn; brothers George and Francis Caussyn; brother-in-law James Herman and sister-in-law Amelia “Millie” Caussyn. He is survived by his children David (Ria) Caussyn, DeAnn Caussyn (formerly Block), Jackie (Harry) Caussyn-Grongstad and Wendy (David) Sturn; his grandchildren Elise, Alek, Anders and Ava Grongstad and Courtney and Taylor Block; sister-in-law Joan Caussyn, sister-in-law Hazel Herman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Headwaters Hospice for their excellent care of Dwaine in his last few days of life. A private family gathering to celebrate Dwaine’s life took place in July.
