Douglas H. Sinrud passed away peacefully with his family by his side, holding hishands, on Christmas Eve. We know Dad made it Home for Christmas. Doug wasbigger than life with an amazingly warm smile, a huge loving hug, and a twinkle inhis eyes. He was loving, loyal, and faithful. We, Doug's family were so blessed tohave him as our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend, Role-Model, Mentor, and Guiding Star. He began life in Coeur d'Alene Idaho onSeptember 9 th , 1940 to Douglas H. Sr. and Frances Sinrud. He grew up north ofSeattle, then moved to Montana to raise a family in the Bitterroot Valley. He wasin California for a short time before moving back to Washington after Genie, hisfirst love, passed away. A few years later he fell in love and married his newfoundlove, Carlee! They were great travel companions and traveled the country makingthree laps around the United States after retiring. Next, they settled down inYuma, Arizona, where many dear friends were made as they helped grow theKnights of Columbus Council 8305, St. John Neumann's Parish in the Foothills.Dad knew time was running short and wanted to be back home in Montana withhis family, so they moved back home in April. Dad was a member of the Knightsof Columbus for over fifty years and part of Council 10576 for a short time. Heloved to say with a big smile on his face, he didn't have to pay dues anymore! Hewas the former Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator in Yuma and broughtcountless people to Christ. He was never afraid to say what he thought and feltabout his Faith, or anything else for that matter! It has been a blessing to have Mom and Dad back home. We enjoyed all thefamily time, Sunday dinners, cribbage games, talks, drives, and love. This year'sThanksgiving was the best in a long time with Mom and Dad home. Dad'sgreatest accomplishment and testament to his life, faith, and love, is the legacy hehas left on this world, with eight grandsons, five granddaughters, four greatgrandsons, and two great granddaughters.Dad truly loved his family, his parish family, and being surrounded by everyone heloved. Dad was a Man's man and he could talk to anyone and everyone. Hetaught us that everyone should be treated with respect until they provedotherwise. He taught us to pray with your whole heart and soul and if youneeded guidance, to pray about it, and more importantly to listen for the answer.Dad was an amazing person; he rebuilt a home practically by himself when theirsburnt to the ground in Corvallis. He could handle customers at the counter, twophones, and two kids "helping him" behind the counter of his auto parts store allwith a smile, and everyone felt they were getting attention. He rebuilt the youthbaseball program in Bitterroot and was instrumental in getting the Legionprogram started there. He raised cattle, horses, chickens, rabbits, and pigs all thewhile raising and providing for his family.Once he rode his Goldwing from Seattle to Savannah in three days, dad loved thesaddle! After being on the road, he discovered he loved genealogy and he was amaster at it. He could find genealogy tidbits others could not and was hired to doso quite often.Dad loved kids so much, in Yuma he was a great advocate for the A.M.E.N. groupand, being the consummate salesman, sold pavers in the Church MemorialGarden at St. John Newmann parish. We will miss you Dad and we love you very much! You'll do great in Heaven!Doug is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles, his first wife Genie, nephew Stephen, and son-in-law John Caspersen.
