IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis Dale
Willert
September 18, 1952 – September 5, 2025
Dennis (Denny) Dale Willert, 72, of Helena, died on September 5, 2025 in his home with his wife Vicki and sister-in-law Joni by his side. Denny was born on September 18, 1952 in Charles City, Iowa to Verne and Maxine Willert. He attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1970. A few years after graduating, he traveled to Montana with some buddies and liked it so well he decided to stay and made Helena his home from that time on. He attended Helena College of Technology to learn carpentry and made that his vocation until he retired at the age of 65. He worked on many buildings in the Capitol Complex including the Capitol building itself, many area commercial buildings, and St. Peter's Hospital. He belonged to the local carpenters union. He married Vicki Kaiser on October 10, 1981 and they welcomed their son Zach on October 16, 1983. Denny felt more at home in the outdoors than anywhere else. In the fall you could find him hunting deer, elk, and pronghorn and in the winter he'd be skiing or ice fishing. As soon as the ice was off the lakes, he'd be fishing from his boat. He had so many fishing lures that his wife said the only way the lures would see the water was if the boat sank. Denny is survived by his wife Vicki, his son Zach (Missy Erving) and granddaughter Ella of Helena, mother Maxine Willert of Charles City, Iowa, brother Mike Willert (Linda) of Nashua, Iowa, brother Brad Willert of Charles City, Iowa, sister Sandy Hayworth (Kerry) of Charles City, Iowa, sister-in-law Joni Kaiser of Helena, brother-in-law Jack Kaiser (Susan) of Calgary, Alberta, along with many nieces and nephews, and his two dogs, Eden and Zu. He was preceded in death by his father, Verne Willert. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 512 Logan St., Helena, MT. We would like to thank Enhabit Hospice for Denny's end of life care.
