Denise Lari Jensen, 61, of Helena, passed away in the early morning hours of December 29, 2020, after battling cancer for several years. She was born in Bozeman on May 14, 1959 to her parents Mary Margaret Gallup and Richard Dean. Her only daughter, Barbara "Bee", was born in April 1994. Watching Bee grow to be the strong, independent and caring woman that she is today will always be her proudest accomplishment. Bee fondly remembers dancing in the kitchen with her mom while cooking and listening to the radio. After moving to Helena in the early 2000s, Denise spent many years working as a claims representative for Montana State Fund before moving to a new position at Montana Municipal Interlocal Authority. Throughout her career, her co-workers grew to become some of her closest, most treasured friends.Denise was a giver. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed volunteering for CASA and helping families who were struggling. She also enjoyed sending family and friends small reminders of her love, usually in the form of a kitchen towel or a cute trinket.Denise loved traveling both near and far with her family. Her most recent trip was to New York City with her daughter where they watched a show on Broadway, explored museums and strolled through Central Park.Denise was quiet, but strong, and even during the tougher moments of battling cancer she would voice her concerns for others before turning her attention to herself. Denise leaves behind a plethora of people who love her, including her only daughter Bee, her mother Margaret, and other close friends and family.Denise will not be forgotten. Her familiar greeting, "Hey Dearie!" will continue to warm our hearts for years to come.A celebration of life for Denise is planned for the summer of 2021.
