Obituary

Delaine Joan Hartzell passed away on March 19, 2023 at St. Peter's hospital. Delaine was born in Helena, Montana to Boyd Hartzell and Elaine (Hoffer) Hartzell. Delaine had a typical childhood growing up in the 70's and early 80's. She enjoyed loud rock music, fast cars, big hair, and hanging out with her childhood best friend Penny Green. Delaine would eventually move onto Minnesota where she would earn her Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding. In Minnesota she would give birth to her daughter Jaime. Delaine was always so proud of the unique spelling of her daughter's name, stating she took the "ai" out of her name and added it to J'ai"me's name. Delaine would also give birth to two beautiful boys, 7 and 10 years after the birth of her daughter. Delaine could never seem to call the boys by the right name, after all she did name them Destin and Dakota. Delaine was proud of her children and amongst all the pain in life and complications, she would always say "I must have done something right."

Delaine enjoyed going on mountain drives, hunting for asparagus, and again, loud rock music. Delaine was a very kind person, but her life was not without struggle. Delaine lost both of her parents at a young age and struggled to recover from this loss. This loss, however, never dulled her kind heart.

A fond memory shared by all her children, were her early morning gas station runs to get breakfast or her bowls of cereal served in bed. Delaine was not necessarily the best cook, but that did not stop her from serving a heaping bowl of cereal or grabbing a gas station burrito for her kiddos.

Delaine is survived by her daughter Jaime (Nicholas) Drake, Destin Hartzell, and Dakota Hartzell, as well as her sister Shalaine Hartzell, and grandchildren Nash Drake, Adalynn Hartzell, Killian Hartzell, and Hayden Hartzell. Delaine is preceded in death by her father Boyd and mother Elaine Hartzell, as well as her brother Tim Hartzell.
